These are done by setting your camera to "bulb" and using a cable switch and doing a time exposure while someone walks slowly in front of the camera waving a broomstick that has colour changing LED lights on it to give that ribbon effect. The sphere is created by someone swinging a light on a piece of cord while slowly turning themselves in a 360 degree circle. Here's another example.

Very nice EM, but you can't fool me, I think that is one of your beautiful flowers shot at the molecular level. thanks for posting with an explanation...Cliff
