Some Mulies from Today (5 photos)
Lens: Tele-Takumar 300mm F6.3 Preset Camera: Pentax K-x Photo Location: Northern Colorado ISO: 200
Posted By: Colorado CJ, 01-28-2012, 10:41 PM

Here are some Mulies I shot today with my new Tele-Takumar 300 F6.3. From the short amount of time I've used this lens, it works pretty well. It isn't as sharp as the Takumar 200 F3.5 Preset though, I think I like the Tak 200 better.

Some really nice shots from a fine old lens.

Had to laugh when I saw the title, after all we use Mulies for bait.

QuoteQuote:
Western Australian slang term for the "Southern Blue Pilchard", a small fish roughly 5-6 inches in length and commonly sold in large frozen blocks and used as bait by anglers, especially those fishing for tailor.

Thanks everyone. It just seems this lens is more "grainy" at F6.3 than the 200 is at F3.5 if that makes any sense. I can make a 100% crop with the 200 and it is still very sharp, the 100% crops with the 300 seem not well defined, almost like it doesn't have the resolution of the 200.

It may be just me though as this was the first real day out using the 300 exclusively, might just need to practice with it more.

I'm not really complaining as it is still a great 300mm lens, I just don't think it will surpass my Takumar 200mm F3.5 Preset as my favorite

These look classic to me - right out of National Geographic. Beautifully done, in my view.
