Festival of lights
Posted By: Heinrich Lohmann, 12-31-2007, 12:03 AM

Seeing that tomorrow is the last day for this season I got myself over there and spent half an hour being cold. Wasn't really all that cold (-9 C) but just enough breeze to make it feel cold and the high humidity didn't help any either. Here is what I got for my efforts, all taken with K10D, 16-45 and a monopod. Some are a little noisy but I did not use any noise reduction. Exif is intact.

Let me know what you think, comments are always wwelcome

Nice job. I bet you feel now it was worth it to go out in the cold.

Nice work. Every year I say I will bring the tripod and get out at the place we have one of these. But usually have the wife and kids and stopping to long not an option. Great job.

Well done Heinrich looks like Airdrie has a pretty nice set up there. Very nice exposure and focus. Colors are spot on as well. I am afraid I got too lazy / busy (likely more the former) to head into the city (Edmonton) for their festival of lights.

Thanks for all the nice comments, it is appreciated.

Festival of lights is a volunteer group, no tax money involved whatsoever. They charge no entry fee but visitors are encouraged to donate some money time or talent. This year they seem to have quite a bit of corporate sponsorship.

Very nice photos in a beautiful setting. The snow on the ground really adds to the atmosphere.

I LOVE these Heinrich. You did a beautiful job on these. You must have very good technique to be able to get these using just a monopod. I am impressed. I wish I could visit this display you share here, it looks fantastic.
I'm glad that you made it this year before it was gone till next year.
