For the love of the game
Camera: K5 Photo Location: Playa Potrero, Costa Rica
Posted By: daacon, 01-31-2012, 06:44 PM

On Sunday we went to a local baseball game. Potrero has a team as do some of the other surrounding communities. They litteraly play in a grass field, the trees and branches almost in fair ground, potholes , dogs running off and on the filed. Equipment is donted , as are the cerveza's after the game (we donated a few ). The Costa Rican's are more soccer players , however there are a lot of Nicaraguan's and baseball is thier sport. It was great to watch grown men play the game for the pure joy of playing , no big contracts , no scouts in the stands , they just love the game.

I gotta tell ya, Dave - this is one of the most satisfying group of shots I've seen in some time - in part owing to your photographic prowess, but also your comments and perspective. Super job, buddy.

Thanks Jer - you could really see how much of an escape this was for them. Life can be pretty hard for most of these men, so to let go and relax for a few hours must be priceless.

Thanks Bob I was itching to get out there you can believe that - however really glad we spent a couple hours there to enjoy.

Thanks Dave I believe most of these were my two favorite lenses the DA12-24 and DA* 50-135 - both a pleasure to use.

Very nice shots Dave - Baseball the way it should be.
I really enjoyed looking at the shots - but now I've got the itch. Glad my son starts playing high school ball in another couple of months (assuming the weather cooperates), as the camera has been getting a little rusty this winter!

THanks Tim. Great wish I had a DSLR when my kids were into school sports - enjoy these times they fly by.
