Couldn't believe that I caught him in such a delicate moment until after I downloaded the photo.

Susan, you were sure ready with the ss that high, can I say good catch? You got me beat, I finally got some pics of them sticking their tongues out, but never got a shot like this of the other end. How do you like the K-5 versus the K-7?

Hummingbird pictures really annoy me in the winter Susan.

I have to wait til at least late April for mine to return.

Great capture, lol, ... looks a bit like an A-6 Intruder coming in to land with its arrestor hook down!

CC, what do you know about A6 Intruders? I spent 8 years working on these beasts. There were workhorses and tough.Cliff

Thanks everyone. The bird sure did surprise me.
Bob, Ray (the husband) bought me the K=5 because I love to photograph birds. Still not good at in and need a better lens but it will all come together someday.
I see what you mean CC - just didn't think of it that way.
Hey Charlie, hummers don't show up in our neck of the woods (South Carolina) until March but these babies were in Arizona and are pretty much year round.

My son (who is also a pentax user), was once in the air force cadets and is just a couple of flight tests away from obtaining his commercial Pilots license. Through him I have developed a keen interest in all things that fly, in particular Military aircraft, they are the most interesting after all.
I think the bird has just about the right proportions & shape for an A6
