Fairbanks, AK
Camera: K-7 and K-5

We finally cross the border into Alaska and get our first look on many at the pipeline

Fairbanks is an interesting city and you have to be a little crazy to live there. According to the inhabitants, -50 is not cold but -70 is a little nippy. Methinks they are pulling my leg.

Downtown Fairbanks

Lots of flowers blooming

And I kept telling myself that I would get tired of seeing these guys but I never did

Well, its off to Denali so hope to see you there.

Susan, Terri met a lady here in the campground that has visited Alaska three times and it wasn't until the third visit that the clouds lifted and they could get a good view of Denali. Looks like you are already off to a good start. Flowers in the city of Fairbanks, I bet that makes the residents feel a little better about the winter. Way too cold for our old bones, cute little moose you got there.

Thanks for commenting everyone. Bob, you can get bumper stickers and things making you a member of the 30% club if you see Denali because they say 70% never see it. We got lucky and saw it twice but that will come later.

So THAT'S what "the pipeline" looks like. I always wondered!
Great sky in that one, and I love the mountain/forest shot too.
You might not have gotten tired of seeing the moose Susan, but it looks like he may be a little tired of looking at you!

Thanks Tim. We were amazed that the pipeline was surrounded by barbed wire in places and completely accessible in others. That moose and her calf were residents of the campground we were staying at.
