This expression of these two people give me a feeling of great contrast between their state of minds.

The elderly lady is obviously in dismay or in pain, walking with the 4 wheelie frame.

The young lady may not laugh at the elderly before her but it sort of seems inapropriate to an extent

In fairness to the young lady I suppose I really should have mentioned that she was having a conversation with another woman who got cropped out of the picture. She was already laughing and smiling before the elderly lady came along, so there's no connection between the two in that way.

hmm

your image looks over-sharpened and with way too much noise-reduction and contrast applied. Is it a 100% crop from a P&S?

Great shot Mike, I like the various levels of contrast between them. The fashion, the body condition, the expressions, the postures, skin and hands.... It works for me just fine.

No, it is an attempt to rescue a poorly-exposed and poorly focused photo because I couldn't resist the urge to use the "high contrast" title in a non-photographic context.
