woo hoo ... new FA50
Posted By: Mechan1k, 01-01-2008, 03:56 AM

Boy have I been having fun with this one.
Xmas was good this year.

Here's the first few shots I took with it straight away as soon as I took it out of the box and put it straight on the camera.

Nothing spectacular really.
I have realised now though ... stopping it down to f/1.7 and f/2 really makes a huge difference though ... f/1.4 can be a tad soft in some images (but can really be cool in others).

Many more hours/days/weeks/months of fun with this one.

What kind of shift is that? With nothing to do?

Oh ... I have plenty to do here.
I still have spare time on the side to do a few things inbetween.
I work in a 24x7 Network Management Centre for a large telecommunications company.

Here's a few shot I just reeled off at f/1.4 ... just showing it's narrow DoF ... the entire distance from front image to last is about 20cm.

Congrats Simon, the Pentax family of "fast 50's" are sure crowd pleasers. I'm sure you are going to have a lot of fun with it. BTW, I really like the shot of the LED? regular bulb? The nice creamy smooth bokeh is a great characteristic of this lens.

Thanks for that ... looking at that image ... I really can't remember what was in the background.

I think it was hanging in front of the window ... and I was shooting out ... so whatever was outside.

I am going to have a play around with it tonight again.

Congrats on the lens and nice DoF. I'm patiently waiting for my 50 1.4 to arrive, hopefully this week!
