Old watertower across frozen canal
Lens: DA*50-135mm Camera: K-5 Photo Location: Westzaan, NL ISO: 200 Aperture: F8

Thanks to todays traffic jams I took an alternative route into work today. Never really noticed this watertower standing across the canal but now, with the canal frozen solid it kind of stands out.

Details:
Tonemapped HDR of 5 exposures (Used the JPG's this time out of lazyness...). HDR software LuminanceHDR with Mantiuk06 operator and automatic alignment of the handheld shots through align_image_stack. Tonemap settings:
pregamma_1, contrast_mapping_0.6, saturation_factor_1.2, detail_factor_10

Some image rotation, levels and curves in GIMP, finished off with a highpass filter to get sharpness without enhancing tonemap-noise.

Your water towers are a lot more interesting to look at than ours. I don't understand much about HDR except it seems to require a lot of work and sometimes the end looks overdone but this one seems to be spot on.

Terrific winter scene, and I'm with Susan - I wish our water towers were picturesque rather than a blight on the horizon.

Beautiful shot.
