I awoke this morning to find a foot of fresh snow had fallen overnight.
Shortly after getting up (and before having breakfast) our electric power failed.

This happens a couple of times each winter when a heavy snowfall downs power lines.
Not able to do anything productive, I headed outside to take a few photos:
We have one stubborn oak tree that holds its leaves through the winter:
The evergreens were weighted down with snow:
and the Sumac seed pods were decorated, too:

A couple of birds were holed up from the cold. This mourning dove was sound asleep:
while this goldfinch was looking for something to eat:
The light was flat and gray all day (between blizzards), but at least the hydro came back on this afternoon.
