This had to be our favorite stop in Alaska from the Salty Dog (best bar) to the wildlife. Camping was pretty primitive but you could pull right up to Katchemak Bay so it was worth it.

The thing that brings most of the tourists to Homer - Halibut

Sadly, this is the view we had to put up with on a daily basis

it looks pretty nice, great shots of the Eagle, the water in the first shot is incredible, like a perfect mirror.

Cheers

I have a cousin who lives in Homer. He sent me a picture of his back yard from last month. It looks a little different up there now.

Primitive or not, what a great place to camp for a while. Sometimes it is hard to get halibut at the restaurants, but looks like a good supply there. Those eagles are awesome, all great photos. Were you on a set literary, or could you adjust your schedule as need be?

Thanks for the comments everyone.
Bob, we had a sort of schedule but no reservations anywhere except for Denali and then only because we wanted to stay in the Teklanika CG which is 26 miles inside the entrance and the furthest you can take a rig our size. The stay at Tek is for a minimum of four days I think. It stays pretty full all the time. We were even able to stay an extra day or two at Riley CG near the visitor center at Denali as the turnover there is really huge. At Homer, as long as you have the spot it is yours if you keep paying for it. Those eagles were right in our backyard because a fisherman was nice enough to leave his fish entrails behind our rig. Bless him (and I mean that because the eagles loved those scraps.)

Another great set of photos uncovering the "real" Alaska. Great job, Susan.

I will say that terrific first photo has a familiar feel to it.

Thanks Jer. Working harbors always are fascinating to look at and Homer's is not exception.
