I wish I had a bigger-longer------Lens that is
Lens: Pentax 55-300mm Camera: K5 Photo Location: Saugus

Just like Captain Quint said in the movie Jaws "I think we need a bigger boat." this was my dilemma today. The small birds were very active at the feeder but they were over 60ft away and one can only expect so much from the 55-300 at that distance. Here are a couple of borderline keepers from todays hour shoot.Maybe the "Bigma" could be in my future. The 12-24 for Florida is first on my agenda.--charliezap

I know what you mean about the bigma Charlie. If you get one will you then want a 1000mm? Is there such a thing as too much lens?

Great capture on those in flight birds Charlie. I think I need to put up a feeder, my bird bath is not seeing much action lately.

I always wanted to get the Bigma. They say it's really great at shots that are relatively close and that the IQ is superb.I'll settle for that.--charliezap

Charlie, great first shot of the birds in flight. I like the K-5 because you can crop so much without hurting the image too much. Bigger is not always better my friend, at least that is what I heard.

The next time that I shoot around the feeder I'll try setting up from 20-30ft away and see if the birds cooperate.--charliezap

Hey Capn, I have a devil of a time catching birds in flight; you're doing a heck of a lot better than I can.

Nicely Done Charlie - I have both Bigma and 12-24 , the 12-24 is the go to lens for naything landscape without a doubt - Bigma does not see much use lately however in good light it's a great lens.

Good job Charliezap! The birds in flight are nicely captured my friend and i think you've done a great job with the 55-300! I think that is what i well be getting myself when funds permit as the Bigma is way out of my price league! Cheers my friend!

Well done, Charlie! I always want a longer lens too, but the 55-300 is a very good lens, isn't it?
