Clicking on this one will take you to a larger version...check it out!

I started having fun with the kit lens for the next couple!

Nice series very colourful.
I like what you did the kit lens ... looks like you either zoomed in or zoomed out while shooting ... the effect is cool.

Excellent images.

Sometimes I miss living near Philly. Sometimes not.

Thanks. Zoomed in or zoomed out. Don't remember which. If you combine it with some panning , you get a cool lensbaby effect.

No one can ever say this is a boring forum. Thanks for the series Jeff - the colours are enough to brighten-up a dull winter day.

Had never heard of Mummers or this parade in particular - learning on this forum is certainly NOT limited to Pentax and photography.

Nice shots of the Mummers. Unfortunately, for some of the shots with a zoom effect, I didn't like them too much.

I think why the attendance is down is because of the crime going up in Philly, especially near downtown. It's been getting worse over time and people are pretty much afraid to go out and watch the parade in person. I'm quite sure there are many that were watching it on TV.

FYI, I'm a Philly native to the suburb of Southampton.

I just think people have better things to do. I don't know, I've lived in nearby South Jersey all my life and just never saw the draw anyway, so maybe I'm not the best person to give an opinion.

Thanks! This was actually my first time attending the parade.

Crime is a big problem in Philadelphia. I think the lax major has a lot to do with it. But, we're getting a new one. But I did see at least 2 police officers on every corner. Literally every corner.

The parade usually starts at 9:00 am.....on New Years...really, who wants to get up that early. This year there was a 2 1/2 hour delay. I can't vouch for last year, but there was a lot of people there this year.

Thanks for the comments everyone.
