Another outing with the Pentax 18-250
Posted By: Chako, 01-02-2008, 03:52 PM

I must say, the more I use this lens, the more I like it. I have been itching to take some photos all week, but the weather hasn't cooperated much. Today was the first day with sunlight, but it was also the coldest so far. Can we say -15 degree weather...brrrrrr.

Here is a direct in the sun shot. I am impressed. I was expecting some flare. Wow.

A few more photos.

Nice images and you are right, that first one is an amazing shot with absolutely no lens flair. Is it full frame? BTW, you need more "stuff" :-)

I crop most of my photos to fit an 8x10 format. So I do lose a little off the sides.

You think I need more? My LBA tells me the same all the time.

Cool - literally and figuratively. I'm enjoying my DA 18-250, as well.

I wonder how the Tamron version would behave in such conditions... Would flares appear...?

I have now idea. There seems to be a lot of speculation between these two lenses.

It would be interesting to see some "in the sun test shots to compare between the two".

What I do know is that the Pentax DA 18-250 is fantastic glass. Even if it is a Tamron lens, you couldn't compare this lens to the Tamron 70-300mm lens that I call the Purple Monster for its propensity to purple fringe all over the place.

Very nice shots - for that first one did you have any filter on ? I have the Tamrom version of that lens - I will see if I can get a sun shot. Where was you focal point the horizon just below ? You are right no flare there at all - a good copy for sure.

Wow! Wonderful photos for test pictures!! Excellent!

My 18-250 will be delivered tomorrow. I am mildly optimistic. It sounds too good to be true! I will compare it with a few of my lenses. But - I have heard nothing but great remarks about it! I am looking forward to being pleasently surprised!

I might be selling a couple more of my existing lenses - NO! Not the DA*50-135!!! That sucker is very sharp!

Good job, I enjoy the boat shots. So odd seeing them like that.

The more I see pictures from the lens the more LBA I get. No more posts from this lens. Please.

(only kidding)
