Valdez

What a neat town this was. The salmon were running and this meant bears. Valdez also has its own glacier. The weather turned really bad again with lots of rain and gray misty clouds but what the hey, it is Alaska.

Lots of waterfalls

An of course the glacier

Salmon and bears

All in all, another beautiful place in Alaska's crown.

Wonderful shots Susan - those salmon and bear are great. The landscapes are just spectacular as always - love the waterfall.

These are fun to see - particularly the salmon and bear shots. That bears catch salmon is one of those bits of info that you pick up in life, but to see it actually happening is fascinating.

You sure got some great shots.... years ago when I was still working I signed up for photographers cruise, that went up the coast from Vancouver in a small former trawler equipped with kayaks and zodiaks. The idea was, over night the trawler would navigate to a new photo location, set anchor, and the after a sumptuous breakfast in the dining room you'd head out for a day of photography. Things happened and I didn't actually ever make it out... and it was incredibly expensive... 5 crew and 12 paying customers makes for some pretty high daily costs... but it's still on the bucket list.

If I ever get the opportunity again...

That is a great waterfall shot, very well done and viewing the bears in action would also be a great view. I am surprised that the weather was overcast for such a long period, but I have heard that is one of the uncertainties of Alaska.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. The weather was really awful most of the time but I did have a few pics with blue skies but it was the exception rather than the rule. So, let's go to Haines.
