The arrival!
Posted By: SouthShoreRob, 01-03-2008, 10:43 AM

I've been patiently waiting and waiting - until today. See for yourself why...oh and great timing too, as tonight I'll get to try it out down at the arena!

Damn that will freeze the action nicely. If you would like, just as a favor to you, I can test it here for some Alberta Hockey eh ? MY Shipping address is .... I have only photographed a couple of hockey games I found my best pics were with my Tamron f2.8 - however it maxes at 75 mm I am sure you will be pleased.

OK paint myself green! You are a lucky man. However I think I see a flaw...you should send it to me so I can test it out thoroughly to make sure I'm correct. I'll even pay for shipping...both ways! It would be just terrible to put that lens on your nice camera and find out it's flawed. I'll be happy to do the QC for you.

That must cost a bit for sure.

You would have a nice time shooting candids

Thanks everyone. It was a huge $ commitment on my part, and obviously, one I hope I don't regret. But, thanks to all of the reviews I've read here and elsewhere, I am of the impression I will *definitely* get my money's worth.

Rob

samples

First of all, this baby fits the K10D like a glove, and truthfully, I didn't find it heavy at all. I can certainly shoot an entire game hand-held without my monopod. Speaking of which, I pick up the ass-clown award of the early new year for having forgotten to charge the batteries in anticipation of this test run...DOH!

Anyhow, from way up in row K, I got some good ones before the batteries died. Here's four to peruse:

1. Team photog
2. Tough guys about to battle
3. Off the draw
4. Full flight (panned shot)

As I learn the attributes of this particular lens, I can only imagine things will be better. Well, that, and getting a little closer to the action

WOW I to am a little .....heck a lot jealous. Nice new toy. Couple of questions for you. Where did you get it? They let you bring it in the arena? I assume these is not a pro team or you would have had trouble getting it in the door. Nice test shots and look forward to seeing more.

Wow. Nice find. the shots look good and sharp (could use a little WB adjustment but that's minor). looking forward to seeing more from this lens when the batteries are fully charged!

<jealous> Wonderful lens, looks like you'll get some great stuff out of it.

Great shots of the game (is that Windsor Spitfires?).

Enjoy the lens!

Once again but bigger this time - CONGRATS.

That lense looks like it kicks arse - way to go.

Think you might want to rent it out at some point. If insured it might pay for itself faster than you think.

EDIT: Make sure you list it separately on the insurance policy.
