Random Boats
Camera: K5 Photo Location: Playa Potrero, Costa Rica

Being near the ocean of course there were quite a few boats about - here's a random selection from the area

We went on a Catamaran Tour it was very relaxing , included a little snorkling. $60.00 a head included a light lunch and all the Cerveza and rum punch you could drink

This guy was way out there - took this from the boat we went Deep Sea fishing on , if you look close you can see a ray jumping beside them. it was very calm seas that day , but not sure I would want to be in that vessel comming in on a stormy day ha.

The competition - not sure how they did , we did not fair so well but don't reqret going .

Coupl of boats from the 'marina' there use to be an actual marina there and I believe some of the cruise ships use to stop here, however I am told for political reason (read : corruption and greased palms) - this area is not longer offically supported but a lot of boats still anchor here.

My Brother in law told me a great Boat story as he as owned a few including a large ocean fishing boat - aside from the acryonum of "Break Out Anohter Thousand" He imparted these words to live by :

The 3 greatest days of a boat owner are:

1. When they buy the boat
2. When the sell the boat
3. When their best friend buys a boat

Such a beautiful area there Dave, with all of the things to do there, no wonder you visited again. It really looks like a carefree place to retire, if someone could put up with carefree.

Great pics... My boss has a sailboat down on one of the big reservoirs near Austin TX, he describes a boat as "A hole in the water you throw money into..." :-)

Nice shots, Dave - the U.S. version of your triad reduces to two.

1) The second happiest day of a boater's life is the day he/she buys a new boat.

2) The happiest day of a boater's life is the day he/she sells the boat.

Some other good ones:

1) Summer - the season spent preparing a boat for winter storage.

2) Catch-Cleat - the human toe.

3) Vile - a malfunctioning marine toilet.

4) Desired course - the direction from which the wind is blowing.

5) Pier - harbor landing place that goes "crunch" when hit.

Your boss is right, Jim. The good news - keeping a boat in the water allows the relativistic view that photographic equipment is dirt cheap.

Thanks Bob - I may agree ha ! It is certainly a different mind set when one is on a short tern holiday as opposed to retirement - I know for retirement if we kept the vacation pace up I am not sure what would expire first our money or me
