some wildlife
Lens: Sigma 50-500 Camera: K5 Photo Location: Prince Albert National Park, SK

We went to Prince Albert National Park (Saskatchewan, Canada) on Valentines Day - just to see what we could see. We saw a wolf, two coyotes, a fox, several squirrels, deer and elk, lots of ravens plus a few other birds.

The owl was quite unco-operative - up in a tree, too far away, couldn't get closer without wading through snowdrifts, had his back to the camera. This shot is cropped quite a bit.

The owl is quite amazing given the circumstances. I just never tire of seeing wildlife. Thanks for sharing these lovely shots.

Thanks riff. I often think - what's to not like about the northern boreal forest region? I sent the owl shot to the Park Office asking for confirmation on the ID. They replied that it is a northern hawk owl - and would I object if they used my photo (with credit) in one of their publications? I expect you can figure out what my reply was to that.

Thanks dcmsox - I think it looks a bit soft. I had to crop it quite a lot as it was originally not much more than a dot in the shot. I recall trying to focus on the eye and that does seem to have helped. I have another view with both eyes showing - maybe later I'll post it, but I think it is even softer than this one.

Wildlife, animal and action shots are more clallenging I think than basic scenery that stays in one place!
