The Cliffs at New Years Beach (3 IMG)
Posted By: xs400, 01-03-2008, 09:37 PM

A few days ago, I found this secluded beach a few miles north of Santa Cruz, California. It was a nice place to go for a walk and take a few pictures. Got these shots with my K100D and 18-55mm kit lens.

Nice photos of a picturesque beach, the colours are terrific. I really like the composition in the third shot.

Yep on the scenery, yep on the color - I have been to Santa Cruz beach about 5 years ago - really enjoyed it , looked nothing like this ! Nice find.

It's just south of Ano Nuevo State Reserve. You'll need to park your car at the State Reserve. Then follow the trail from the visitor's center marked 'New Years Creek Trail' down to the beach. It's about a 5 min walk from the vistor's center.

This isn't the exact same one, but has similar features. Go to Half Moon Bay and go south. Look for San Gregorio Creek State Park. Coordinates: N37 19.3 W122 24.2

There are several turnouts along US1 with these kinds of spectacular displays. While you are at it, drop in at the Pigeon Point Lighthouse around sunset.
