Down Came a Blackbird
Lens: 300 F2.8 Camera: K10D Photo Location: Oregon ISO: 400
Posted By: Terdog, 02-21-2012, 10:05 PM

The Blackbirds have been vocal the last 2 weeks, as mentioned previously I will
call birds in for photo ops. Mind you if Birds are stressing or agitated I stop, no
intentions of causing any harm!!!!! This guy posed for some of my best ever work.

Hoping you enjoy.

I like the last one best as it appears as if the sun was out really making his black feathers pop out.
I'm assuming the others were taken when it was (slightly) overcast?

Very nice Terry.

Your species seems to have a gold fringe on the wing.

I like it.

Our species in S. Ontario is basic black with a red/yellow patch on the shoulder.

I never realized how much color there was in the blackbird. It is really hard to catch that epaulet so exposed. Well shot and absolutely wonderful detail. Thanks for sharing and thank the bird for posing so beautifully.

You are all very kind, thank you very much.

This was a semi cloudy day so, sun yes sun no.

These were taken with my K10 D and the Tamron 300 F2.8 AF. Last year I did some
in camera focus calibration and my keeper percentage has gone way up.

I am told by a local "birder" that this time of year the feathers will fray out on the ends
and then regenerate, This fraying gives the appearance of color outlining, I like the
effect too.
