What the Heck is That?
Lens: 50-200mm tele Camera: K-5 Photo Location: Colorado Springs, CO.
Posted By: Bob Harris, 02-23-2012, 10:22 PM

I took this series of photos while we were in Colorado last year. What first got my attention when looking at the sunset over Pikes Peak, was several objects that appeared to be falling from the sky and one struck the peak. I then picked up my camera and took some photos of the sky. It appears that a vapor trail may have formed from one object. I never read anything in the local paper or saw anything on TV, but it appeared strange to view at the time. Any thoughts?

A smear on the lens or filter, catching the light. Or bird poo. Or a temporary shift in the space-time continuum. But definitely not weather balloons from another world. Everyone knows the aliens get their weather reports from CNN.

Regards

Pretty cool shot, Bob. No idea what that is, though. This is a good reason to always have that camera with you!

Not really sure about any of these and "51" is over in Nevada, just looked odd to me though.

I thought it was a bit strange too, but we did have a nice sunset to end the day.
