Very nice!

If anything, the magenta/pink on the stem is a little bit distracting (to my eyes). I would tone it down just a touch to bring it towards the red of the flower maybe.

Perhaps a little bit more depth of field would work better?

The highlight on the left distracts just a little from the beautiful "star." The black outline of the lower petal, is that from postprocessing?

PS The criticism is intended to make a beautiful picture even more beautiful. I mean it is worth spending time on (if one is not against postporcessing, reshooting, etc). Let me know if it is out of place.

an unusual shot that I really like. Your main focus is on the stamen that is just starting to open and the petal blur as you progress down really adds to the overall photo. I also like the softness, dof and color and I am not going to ask what type of flower this is.

Your points have been taken, the problem with photography and art is that what may distract some people others find alluring so in that sense it is pretty well impossible to please everyone.

Interesting blur effect on the lower petals. Terrific colour but I do agree the stem is a little on the bright side.

I thought the original was a great shot that's why I commented on it - it was worth investing time in and the one above is an improvement.

Well done!!!
