Bigma and the Birds
Posted By: areidjr, 01-05-2008, 03:28 PM

It was quite overcast and drizzly this afternoon and the light was pretty bad. I had to try out the new Bigma, though. Here's a couple of the better shots.

All shots had minimal post processing consisting of cropping to 4:3, reduced to 800x600, slight levels adjustment and smart sharpening (Amount: 35, Radius: 0.8).

All shot with my K100D Super, even though the EXIF indicates K100D.

I'm open for comments and/or suggestions?

Ya I see that the Bigma is giving you all sorts of trouble

Great shots. I was curious to see some results from the big zoom lens with the appropriate name. I am impressed. Picture #1 tops the polls for me. The detail captured in the feathers, feet, and branch is excellent. The background compliments and supports the photo very well. I always like the placement of strong lines to be placed diagonally in a photo rather then stright up or across when they are not the main subject - branch position and cropping well thought out.

Thanks for the kind comments, spyglass. I'm really looking forward to a bright day to give the Bigma another work-out.

These are some great shots. The chickadee (#1) is excellent.

Thanks, Paul. I can't wait to see what it will do in decent light.

Thanks, Paul. I have a feeling I'm really going to love this lens. (let's hope so, it wasn't cheap!)
