Beautiful shot, stacking is very well done - it doesn't have that flat effect that overstacked images get.

The textures and colours are absolutely marvellous, the difference in the pattern on the compound eye and the hairs is very striking- it looks like a thick carpet!

I really like this image. What level of magnification is this? In what order do you put the extension tubes and the reversing ring and the lens?

Thank you for detailed and constructive comment.

I believe magnification is around 2.5x -3x.
Order of equipment:

K-5 -- extension tubes -- reverse ring (to 52mm) -- 52mm-43mm step down ring -- reverse Schneider

I'd also add that taking handheld macro shots of a living moth is an impressive feat! The lighting is very even and attractive.

Thank you for the detail on the equipment. I have one more question if you don't mind: The settings, ISO 100, 1/180 shutter speed and f8 suggest a lot of light. How did you light the moth? Is f8 taking into account the loss of light in the tubes? I intend to shoot some similar shots (of snails) and would be very grateful for any advice you could offer.

Yes, I forgot - I used diffused (milky plastic) flash arround 5-10cm above and left of the subject. Power of the flash was 1/2 (yongnuo 460). f8 was used, but f4 will be better, because of the diffraction, but I'll have to shoot more frames to get such large DOF.

The diffuser has worked well - it seems that at such close distances you get a lot of power. Thanks
