Tohono Chul Park
Posted By: slowpez, 03-04-2012, 11:04 PM

We are still in Tucson. This park is located just outside of the city. We will visit here a while then head on over to Saguaro NP tomorrow.
I'm hoping you aren't getting bored with our travels yet. They are almost over so hang in there with me for a little while longer.

Cactus spines

A couple of goldfinches

Phainopepla (not only do I hope I got the species right but the spelling as well)

The only cactus blossom we saw

Cool series, Susan. I'm particularly struck by the gutsy little goldfinch sitting on a thorny limb.

Thanks Bob and Jer. Bob, if you go to see the Biosphere the park will be in the same direction. Would advise against doing both at the same time though as both take quite a bit of time.

More lovely photos Susan. I also really enjoyed the goldfinch on what I assume to be ocotillo. And that is indeed a phainopepla. How wonderful to catch a cactus in bloom so early!

Please post more of your adventures. I know I am enjoying them!
