Well, I had another chance today to take out the new lens and boy oh boy was it fun. For starters, my batteries were fully charged (lol) and secondly, for this game, I was able to shoot right at ice level. What you are about to see are two photos, the first straight from the camera (.jpg) no PP whatsoever, only resized. Second, is a 100% crop from said photo. Keep in mind, as you see these two shots, that they were taken through the protective glass that surrounds the rink and that the player featured is not static: he's skating a good 10 mph + up the ice on a rush. Clearly, the K10D - when equipped with the proper glass - can handle action sports just as good as anything else out there.

Thanks! I actually experimented with a few different settings, but for this particular shot it was:

1/180th @ F4
ISO 800
EV +1

I didn't adjust any of the saturation/contrast/sharpening either. Just factory settings .jpg.
