A few images from the Calgary Zoo
Lens: 18-135 Camera: K 5 Photo Location: Alberta, Canada ISO: 1600

A couple of weeks ago our 12 year old grandson wanted to go to the Zoo, so I took him there. It being a school holiday it was incredibly busy and I didn't get much done as far as pictures go but here are a few:

Red River Hogs (Madagascar)

Rock Hyrax (Africa)

Comments are always welcome and appreciated.

Lions in winter -- somehow they look as though they are looking forward to warmer weather.

Are those hyraxes in #2?

Heinrich, that lion shot is terrific. isn't it great to spend time with the grand kids and a zoo trip is a great idea. I will try that with ours when we get to Colorado Springs. thanks Bob

Thank you and yes they are hyraxes. I forgot to put the titles in and did it now.

Take care,

Hi Bob and thank you. I like to take him places, he is very smart and grown up for his age besides that he can send text messages way faster than I can.

Take care,

Great stuff Heinrich,

The Toronto zoo is just up the road and I've never been there.

I think it's time I took a look.

8540tomg - the Toronto zoo is AMAZING!

Heinrich - I love the rock hyrax and the hogs - very unusual beasts, and nicely captured - particularly the hyrax.

Thanks for sharing.

Heinrich, great images...I'll be traveling around your neighborhood in two weeks...Edmonton--to--Jasper National Park--to Banff NP--to Calgary--and back to Edmonton for a return flight. Hope there's still some snow...I'm taking a big kit..

Thank you Tom and don't feel bad, the Calgary Zoo is 20 minutes away and this was my first time there and we have lived here for 14 years.

Take care,

Thank you and don't worry about the snow, there might not be any in Edmonton or Calgary but there will be lots in the mountains. You are in for a treat on the Jasper to Banff road.

Take care,
