Clearwing in Flight
Posted By: Frogfish, 03-20-2012, 10:14 AM

I believe this to be the Clearwing Moth - Hemaris Thysbe, though there are some differences, to the wings (black not red) and legs (black not a light colour) though the rest looks about right for Hemaris Thysbe. Maybe a regional variation to those found in the USA (I used Bug guide as a reference) ? If anyone can confirm that would be great ! These are heavy crops - maybe a little too heavy perhaps !

#7 - What is this ? A wasp or a mimic ?

Thanks for looking !

Excellent series Kevin.

Amazing considering you were using a 300mm lens over-sharpened or not.

Delightfully sharp. Did you use ml or remote or timer?

Thank you Tom. I've found the DA*300 to be a superb pseudo-macro lens. Worth the money for it's versatility alone !

Thank you Den. I used AF then AF cancel (assigned to the rear AF button) then quick-shift if needed. Even so many times the lens chose the lilies far beyond over this little creature.

Thank you Tess and likewise, it's always great to hear when someone gets excited over a shot(s) I've taken
