Electrifying!
Lens: Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 APO DG Macro Camera: Pentax K-5 Photo Location: Glen Allen, VA ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 3s Aperture: F5.6

So, as most people in the US know, it's been quite warm lately in a lot of places. And with that warmth comes summer-like thunderstorms! I was lucky enough to have a rather active thunderstorm just pass by to the east, which means easy lightning shots without getting soaked! I found an open area in my neighborhood because I didn't have time to go into the city, took a moment to set up the camera and ensure that I wouldn't get burned to a crisp, and started up interval shooting. The results were incredible. (I had to reposition a couple times.)

By the way, don't try this at home. Running around in a lightning storm with a tall metal tripod isn't exactly the best idea in the world.

Amazing shots! I've tried lightning photography one time and it was tough. You made it look easy.

Thanks! It definitely wasn't, though...I had to take about 50 or so frames just to get these and a couple others!

That's why a carbon fibre tripod is a good investment.

I'm surprised I don't see as much motion blur in trees as I would expect. How long were your exposures? Or was it not very windy? The only evidence of motion blur that I see is in the flag, and it's very nominal.

Great Photos. A question though, on the third photo near the top - Have you managed to photograph a UFO?
