Water and Ice

During a week of unseasonably warm temps we went out to photograph the rivers and lakes. Here is a series taken over a period of three days this week.

I am learning about different apertures and shutter speeds effects on moving water

I just love this little tree, backlit

Had to work hard on this one to bring up the shadows

same day just further down the river and closer to sunset

A drive into the park to see the ice conditions on the lakes

Took a paddle up a creek (into the sun)

And then a hike out to our neighbourhood lake yesterday

thank you for looking

A wonderful series. You captured the movement of the water in a dramatic fashion in #1 and #2 especially. It is neither static or overly blurred. I also like #5 very much with the change in the reflection from gold and green to blue.

Ash, thank you so much for taking a look and for your comments. I do spend a lot of time on the pp, so I guess it can either make or break the image. Paintings... I like!

Thank you snappychappy... they had a great time swimming!! They can't wait for the real swimming conditions to arrive.

Oh I love how you described the series kenafein! The countryside is very dramatic and photogenic so I am lucky. Thank you for looking and commenting.

Thank you Bruce... your analysis means a lot. I took many photos that were just that, over blurred or so sharp it looked weird. I am happy you like these.

The second one and the one of the river at sunset are just stunning. Others have use the term "art" and I fully agree.

Tess, I like all of them however #1 is my favorite as the water almost looks like it is frozen in a gazillion spiny shards.........TFS Cliff
