Ice puddles, grasses, birds and Dreamer
Lens: Tamron 90 2.8 macro Camera: Kx Photo Location: South Algonquin, Ontario ISO: 200 Aperture: F5.6
Posted By: tessfully, 03-27-2012, 02:17 PM

I had a wonderful fun day with the camera... here are (too) many results

these are all different types of ice I saw along the trail...

Just a bunch of dead stuff I thought looked cool

I also practiced select manual focussing ... not great results, will try again with a tripod...

Back home at the feeder

Dreamer patiently waits as I take a gazzillion photos... (thank goodness for computer technology!!)

thank you

Some amazing shots, the ice shots are fantastic, never seen any quite like that......birds....splendid! Of course, the Doggie is always perfect!

I've been thinking of ways to help you out with the K5, but (nothing against Norm's shooting!) if you can do this with the Kx, maybe Norm should use the K5 and let you stick with the Kx, you did excellent here!
Regards!

Thanks Rupert!!! I have always loved my Kx... I hate to do side-by-side comparisons (with the K5) because the images from the Kx stand up just fine on their own inside their own space (if you know what I mean)! I really appreciate your comments. Thank you

great ice puddle and patterns that you captured Tess, if I remember correctly the temp has to be at 0' C for this rare event to occur.

Lots of fine textures depicted here Tess. The ice and sand textures are particularly pleasing to the eye.

Thanks Bob! Yes, it has been a cool few days, but warming up again today. We had an ice rain overnight so I'll have to head out see what I can shoot before it melts!

All the shots were taken with the Tamron 90 macro. Seems to be my lens of choice. Thanks Cee Cee!

Thank you Ash, that is my favourite one, well, that and the first. This is one of those shoots where the subject looked just as cool in reality as it does on the computer screen.

Ahhh, thanks Philoslothical! I feel so lucky to see a huge flock of Grosbeaks each spring! And that ground cover shot appeals to me too. I guess it is the textures and tones? Thanks for looking and commenting... very appreciated!

The ice shots in particular are just wonderful. The textures and patterns are just stunning. And who can pass up a shot of those soulful eyes in your dog. By the way, thanks for posting the Yellow Grosbeaks. I have only seen them once here and that was years ago so it was a joy to see them again.

Incredible patterns on the ice, a terrific series. Dreamer is an absolute gem. What an expression.
