My Take on the Washington monument
Posted By: Photo Tramp, 12-27-2006, 03:55 AM

Ok I hope your not getting tired of my exploration of Photoshop yet but I am trying to achieve a better understanding of what all can be done with this program. So let me know what you think (But be forewarned I kind of like this one) And I'm finding that the only limits to this program is your mind.

Good Shooting.

Hi David. No ways getting bored of this. Very dramatic and colourful job!

I am learning photoshop to clean up images for sales in stockphoto website.

It is fun!

I like what you can do creatively in this program because there are no limits. I've been working in photo shop for some time but only to do a lite post processing. Now that I know where everything is and what it could be used for I have an even better chance to explore all aspects of photography. I find the creativity photo shop allows is far superior to any other program I have tried. There are some fog and smoke and steam effects I want to try and create and I need the right pictures to do it so I will be more aware of a shot and be able to think outside the box when taking any shots anymore.

Good Shooting.

That's the Lincoln Memorial...

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year David!

I like this one, too. The other one was beautiful, but this one adds a bit of feeling to the monument - kind of like the dawn of a new day feeling. That's what Lincoln is remembered for, changing everything. It fits. Nicely done!

Glad you're having fun with PS. One of these days I'm going to have to spring for the full version.

Nice work David I like the feel you gave to it. One slight small kinda picky criticism, it looks to me that the Lincoln monument is leaning slightly to the right.

Okay, I know you said you liked this one but ....

I lived in Washington for many years and visited the Lincoln Memorial many, many times. For me, it's kind of a sacred experience so I don't think the halo is appropriate.

Personal opinion only and nothing to do with the image itself. I love the fact that you're experimenting with Photoshop so much. I use Elements and haven't gotten past the basic tools.

As has been said above, it does seem to lean a little. Easily corrected.

The first thing that I noticed was the tilt to the right. I also hate to get picky but I couldn't get past that. Also, the "halo" doesn't work for me.

Too much tilt on the building, it will drain the reflecting pool.

I should tilt it more to the right and empty that smelly thing. The reflecting pool really does need cleaned. Well I will look into straightening it but for now I will continue to work on the techniques in mind. nothing posted here yet is permanent.

Good shooting.
