Sings of Spring: The Pine Siskin, viewed from distance
Lens: DA*300/4 Camera: K5 Photo Location: Havre de Parke, Québec ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/1000s Aperture: F5.6

Pine Siskin - early Spring time for us "up here".
Taken from quite a distance and I thought it wouldn't resolve too well; the DA*300/4 still amazes me:

Sorry about a spelling mistake in the title:

Should be: "Signs of Spring" and not "Sings of Spring" !

Thanks Joe !

I have a few more pics of that same bird but a close up is not always what I am going for.

Well, it's a sign of spring indeed, but it also sings of spring!

i agree that it is nice to see close details, but it's also great to see "critters" in their surroundings. This is a very fine capture of the Siskin in its habitat!

Thanks to you Mole !

The "Bird Perfect" shot is not always a closeup shot, in my books anyway.
I've been told, at another forum, that I was "over-reaching" while all I was doing was attempting to include the species' habitat, and that I should try to get closer, get a longer focal lens ... etc.
Of course, it would be nice to have a 500mm lens but for the habitat ... the ol' DA*300 will suffice.

Cheers.

I like the idea that he is singing about spring so I'm glad you made the "mistake." Nicely captured in any event.
