Thanks Bruce, EM and Bas. I actually didn't discover there was a spider on the rose until looking at the photo on the computer. I only wish I could spot things that small.

thank you Rupert, I think it is these small spiders that are the ones that bite and you don't realize until later when you swell up. You just can't see these little guys.
