Making friends with my new DA 300
Lens: DA 300 Camera: K-5 Photo Location: SF Bay Area ISO: 800
Posted By: Dice, 04-02-2012, 12:22 PM

I picked up the lens last week from the forum and this weekend was my first opportunity to test it out. It rained like crazy on saturday....so i tested out the weather resistance but the skies opened up on Sunday and I got some nice blue skies. Anyway, I am still getting used to this focal length and there is still lots of learning to do. I can say it ranks up there in terms of all around versatility. Much more than just a simple telephoto with the 4' minimum focusing distance and the ability to crop up the photos and still retain the resolution. I enjoyed the two days of testing. I hope you enjoy the pics.

Nice! Really lovely photos. Nice lens, for sure. I like them all, but the 2nd to last (the flowers) really stands out for me.

Very nice rural scenes especially the windmill, with the bullet holes in the vane.

The windmill shot looks like it's painted; great feel to the pic.

Wow those are very nice.
I almost bought a DA 300/4 recently but missed the opportunity.
You images remind me of how terrible a loss that was

Great shots btw.

Well, I have been hemming and hawing about that lens for quite a while. These really make me want one. They are all quite wonderful but the birds on the fence really stands out for me. That was a shot that would have been difficult to take and have come out well and it is really wonderful here.

Susan. Stop waiting. I debated for a long time as well.....and now that it is in my hands....I can't imagine not having it. The bird shot was cropped up pretty good. I could have cropped more but thought the other 2 song sparrows added to the image. Kind of a double date.
