Triage
Lens: Pentax DA* 50-135mm f/2.8 Camera: Pentax K-5 Photo Location: Ravenscar
Posted By: Mareket, 04-02-2012, 05:18 PM

A group of seals on the beach at Ravenscar in North Yorkshire, just south of Robin Hood's Bay. Apparently they're there quite often, but you have to climb down a little cliff ledge to get close to them, and there are some inquisitive males around so watch out!

(Bit noisy because it's a close up crop from the K-x at ISO 1600)

Nice wildlife portraits.
But the title? Triage means something completely unrelated to me.

No idea what triage means but it's the first word that came to my head when I looked at the picture of the three of them together. Just thought it sounded cool. Hmm...

I too was a bit surprised at the title, but these are really nice shots.

Medical triage is separating casualties into three groups: the hopeless, the maybe's, and the salvagable. It's not a fun process. I was apprehensive about this thread; thought it might be an ER intake. Or maybe a metaphorical triage: recycling bins for paper, glass, plastic. Seals are much more viewable. But get too close, and you may need to be triaged too. Pinnipeds can be fast and nasty.

PS: Nice shots!

Love the last four. The expressions on their faces are poster-worthy. Save the seals!

Perhaps you meant triad (as in a group of three)?

Nice photos, and I think the incorrect title may be bringing in more viewers than a correct one might have.

I thought to suggest TROIKA or TRIUMVIRATE or TRINITY or TRISPLATERAL (a wet play on 'trilateral') or TRINOMIAL or TRIPLICATE but I didn't want to be a spoilsport.

I'll have to post one called HEADHUNTER'S BALL then. Or THEY'RE ALL NAKED.

If you really want to get attention, just use the heading "I sold all my lenses but this one".
