A Moving Series
Lens: Pentax 18-55 & Sigma 10-20 Camera: Pentax K200D Photo Location: Swift Streams

I've been experimenting with long-exposure shooting using various ways to reduce light coming in through the lens, primarily by mounting a circular polarizer and, if it's still too bright, then adding a ND8. To really push things, I've also toyed with a cheap linear polarizer on top of them. It's a fun technique, and I yearn for a ND400, but till then I'll play with this combination. I have a lot to learn in the shooting and PP, but it's fun. Here are some results, first with the kit lens, the 18-55 Al II, with a CPl and deep shade:

Here are Sigma 10-20mm shots with a CPl and the ND8:

And the Sigma with a CPl, the ND, and the cheap linear polarizer (the LPl, being cheap, imparts a strange color cast, so I converted to monochrome. ):

No. 7 is my favorite, a very good set and you seem to have the hang of long exposure shooting.

Hi,
great shots. The photos 3,7, and 8 to help ND 400th The filter is fantastic, I add the photos that I shot directly into the sun. A small portion was burnt almost irrelevant, and given to elegantly fix the PP.
nice greetings

Thanks Steve. I'm working on it but feel there's so much more to learn.

Thank you, Velimir. I am saving up to buy a ND 400, and can't wait to give it a try. Your picture shows just how dark the filter is!

Tamia, I really enjoyed the series and viewing your experiments. I just purchased different filters and will soon start to play with them. Your photos and narrative have given me more inspiration, great job. thanks Bob

I'm glad you enjoyed the series, Bob. You'll really enjoy using your filters, I'm guessing. I wish I had a graduated ND filter in some of the perspectives where very bright water contrasted with shade. For excellent examples of using ND filters, see what the folks in the "Post your Neutral Density filtered shots here!" have posted. They're an inspiration.

The last one is my fav. Got that "museum print" quality to it.

I'll put in another vote for the last image. Works very well in B&W. It's always worth experimenting with the blur of moving water. The mood tends to change quite a bit, and long exposures become a bit surreal.
