Lensbaby first shots...
Posted By: mrmorrill, 01-12-2008, 09:41 AM

Over Xmas i was given a lens baby, and im finally trying it out(i know it took awhile). Its not the easiest lens to work with, but heres what i got so far. And a few weird ones from the tub (no there not nude lol). Well hope you enjoy!
The tub ones are not with the Lensbaby, shot with a 50mm...

If that lady is your wife you are one lucky guy, she's gorgeous. The third shot is my favorite. That is an interesting lens.

Hey Ian,
Thanks for sharing - interesting effects.
For those of us who may not be aware of the lensbaby (or am I the only one?!?), please tell us how it works differently to that of a regular lens, and how you were able to create that graduated blurring effect on the shots. I take it from the shots above, it's not a DOF issue as the stairs seem to be on the same plane as the subject.

Well the lens is a "special effects" lens. Which allows me to focus on what i want with allowing me to blur everything else by Pushing in or side to side on the lens. Its on a spring type which allows you to move it. Its tough to explain. But its a 50mm lens that allows me to selective focus which is fun!

Heres a pic of it...

Intriguing.
Sounds like a lens that in the right hands can create the most unique and striking photos.
Being so user-dependent makes it even more of a skill to master.
I like that idea!

Keep us posted with more of that, mate.
Looks like you'll have lots of fun with it...

I got a Lensbaby 2.0 for Christmas, and I have to say that I love the effect it gives! I have to practice more with it though as it is quite a challenge to use.
