Like the second shot. Good purple combo with browns and greens in background. Really nice bokeh!

I prefer #1 although can't really identify it.

I too prefer #1. All I know is it would hurt like hell stuck in the bottom of my foot!

A slightly different way of rendering what are basically close ups = including a lot of out-of-focus background. Your framing expands the message of of the picture

Nice shots...especially the chestnut - haven't seen one of those since I left England! I'm wondering if it is a regualr chestneut or a horse chestneut? We used to eat the first and play conkers with the latter.

I really don't have a clue! It was in France if it can help (but I don't think it will). This one was anyway too old to be eaten.
