I'll bet it won't take long ....
Lens: Tamaron 70-200 Camera: K5 Photo Location: Sherwood Park, Alberta ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: 1/200s Aperture: F8

for someone to tell me the species of this fine feathered fellow. ...has Talons that look like they could rip a small rodent in half !

Common Grackle (Quiscalus quiscula). Just the right angle to see the iridescence.

Awesome, the feathers look like fabric. Never seen a bird with those colors (golden and blue)!

Great shot there Dave, can't help with ID but it's a fine looking chap, ... well maybe a bit menacing though.

looks like a grackle to me also, they travel in herds usually, noisy and nasty.

They do look like crows (black) from a distance as Pete-tarmigan pointed out at the right angle and right light you get this
