Where it all began!
Posted By: Bramela, 01-13-2008, 01:09 PM

I came across this photo recently, which brings back many memories. I took this approx 50 years ago, when I was still at school. It actually won a competition at the time (prize : a 300 transparency case). Taken on a Yashica Rangefinder camera on Transparency film. Printed to B &W paper, by my father. That print then recently scanned to disc.
Thought this may be of some interest to some of the long term photographers.

Truly a classic photograph Bruce. I can see how winning a prize would start the ball rolling.

By the way - I have two Yashica's - one a rangefinder (Lynx 14E) and the other a TLR. They may be old but run like a swiss watch!

Thanks for all the comments guys.
Hey Dave, you make me feel literaly ancient when you say the shot is older than you
Thanks , just thought a trip back in time a bit might be worth a look.
Thanks again!!
Jeff, really my memories of the Yahica Rangefinder (was there a Campus? If so I think that was the model) was a truly good camera. I had had a box brownie before that and learn about apertures DOF etc etc on the Yashica. No computer for PP in them days.

There was indeed a Yashica Campus. I have one which looks beautiful but is in need of some mechanical work.

Hello Bramela,

Wonderful shot (must be nice to have started out with so much talent). I noticed that the original photo has suffered a bit with time (upper crease, slight tear. Have you considered giving it a photoshop day at the spa. I just finished repairing several old photos that had a rough go of it for a friend. His father just recently past away from cancer and he wanted to get a few old pictures of his mom & dad, before they were wed, reprinted. It was just one of those projects that you are more than happy to come on board with. If you want I wouldn't mind having a go at your photo. Let me know.

Hello Spyglass
Yes I am with you on that one, will be giving it a bit of overhaul. Perhaps I can post the results shortly.
