IQ is great on all images, and you friend is an amazing pātissier!

I do have one bit of constructive criticism though, I hope it will not offend you. I did a few shoots for restaurants about three months ago and learned a lot during each.

The lighting on some shots is too harsh, giving a kind of threatening/aggressive general allure to the shot that is not too compatible with food, since it's more inviting and appetizing if the shot oozes with a bit of softness and warmth, reinforcing the comforting quality of food, especially desert!

On macro or close-ups, hard light is important to give contrast and texture to the food. All your close-ups are sharp, well detailed and superb DOF. I am jealous.

Perhaps your overview shots such as the desert trio and the first table shot could have used a softer light. Judging by the shadows cast by the flowers and plates, I believe this was shot with one light and apparently no modifier. Perhaps a two lights setup on CL and CR with softboxes would have produced a better environment. Or you can use a distant softbox to cover the whole table and a second light with a 10 degree honeycomb grid, or a snoot, to produce harsher light on the food directly.

Thanks for posting, made me hungry! That chocolate cake looks heavenly.

Ye, I think for 2 or 3 of them, I used harsh light. bare head, no modifier. and extend the light stand pretty high. the purpose is to simulate sunlight.
The rest were shot by a 3 by 4 feet softbox, so the light is much softer.
Yeah, I was just try to play with the light a bit. I am not sure if the harsh light were the good chocie for these type of food.
Most of the shot on that day were done by softbox.
