Just wanted to post a few of my favorites from my son's lacrosse season. All taken with the K-5 and Tamron 70-200 f/2.8

Under the lights...

Were you--like me--in the wood stick era, Tom?

Thank you. This is my sons first year and I have a lot to learn about this game. I'm clueless on the sidelines.

Yep.

Late 60s and early 70s.

Broke one or two sticks in my time. Still prefer them (wooden ones) to the modern sticks.

We played indoors in hockey rinks - without the ice of course.

I do miss the hand-craft element and the tangible connection with the game's Native American roots.
I remember the stick-buying ritual fondly: since no two were alike, getting one that felt right was important.

I didn't know that it was played indoors back then It's always been a outdoor sport here (no hockey rinks ;~)

It's called box lacrosse here in Canada. Check the link below if you want to compare versions of the game.

Box lacrosse - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

No wimpy running out of bounds in our game. We just drive the guy into the boards.

Told you it was a crazy game.

OK, they tried to make a pro game of it here a while back but it really didn't catch on. I thought it was just an entrepreneurial invention--didn't know it had real roots.
