Wow!
Wow!
Wow!

but just so I don't overwhelm myself, I will query whether the image could have even more impact if you cropped 1/4 to 1/5 off the top.

Even if you don't... wow!

Wow that is a mighty darn dramatic sunset Bob! I am dying to travel through the States with the camera in tow and Death Valley would be a hot spot (pardon the pun) on the map for a visit. Hope all is well good sir! Great shot

I really wish you included more of the valley in this image. This could literally be anywhere unless you give it some grounding by showing more of the land.

I kind of agree with mischivo. A great shot! But I wish there was more landscape in it. A little bit more of that silhouette would have been a plus. But what the heck, still really nice.

Charlie, you got to follow that sign at Cape Cod and come s/w to Pahrump.

All is very well here Garbhan, thank you for taking a look and the kind comment. You would love this area I am sure, but just don't visit during the summer when temps are often 120f and higher. Be wary though, we do have snakes here.

I understand what you are saying, but this was a showcase sunset and I included as much as of the landscape to "ground" the image as I thought necessary.

Bob, you certainly have a knack for spectacular sunsets. This is just amazing -- one of those sunset moments, I expect, that is there for just a few seconds.

Curious about the affect of the CPL on such a shot -- what parts of the scene did you find it to affect the most?

Jeff, it really enhanced the colors and really brought out the individual clouds, almost giving them more of a 3D effect, at least that is what it looks like to me. thanks Bob

I like it Bob, very dramatic! ...Otis claims that is where "Bad Squirrels" end up, and asks if you saw any there?

Regards!

OK, makes sense -- I had thought the light wouldn't be strongly polarized in this scene, but obviously there is still enough open blue sky that the CPL gave you that control. I have found the CPL great on rainbows but haven't tried it so much with sunrise/sunset shots -- next time I will.
