Ian,
I really like the idea, but have a request.

Is there any way that you could try the same thing with a
-coal oil lamp?
-candles
-the oven light
-and different coloured light bulbs.

Possible even a couple at once, on different sides of you.

I'm just thinking that you'll probably get some very interesting results, especially with the coal oil lamp and candle light.

I never even saw these... the forums are moving too quickly and some posts get pushed down offly fast. I love the camp fire lighting and have done it a lot myself.

I like the second one best cause the hat brim makes for something to lock onto to in the image. It's great to experiment! I use the snow as an excuse for experimenting all the time.

I agree with Chris - the hat brim helps make the pic.

You might also try experimenting with a flashlight - painting with light - use different colored gels. Paint different objects with the light - try for different textures.

Just as a lark, I once tried "writing" my and my wife's names by pointing a penlight directly at the camera in a dark room. Actually turned out surprisingly well.
