Jean, I used the Pentax AF-360fgz....

I used it on a bracket with a large home-made diffuser. Flash on a chord, of course.

Excellent. I wanted to buy the Pentax ring flash but was shocked by the price so I went out and bought a much cheaper ring light (not a flash). I haven't tried it yet. Have you tried these?

Thanks again Rense. The "bracket" route is my next macro project advancement (along with some "plain jane" K-mount extension tubes), first a bracket and try it with the Metz 44 AF-1 in slave mode with diffusers on both the on-board flash and on the Metz ... and if that is not adequate, then a chord and abandon the on-board flash ... On verra.
