Rising Super Moon - Eastern Canada May 5th 2012
Posted By: jpzk, 05-05-2012, 08:00 PM

Just as it rises above the horizon, the "Super Moon" takes a pleasing hue.
I am wondering why the edge of the moon looks "jagged" ... perhaps due to the humidity ?
Any way at all to make it "rounder" at the edges? Or is this normal and acceptable?
40% cropped for the "magnification" effect. No other PP except for a bit of "curve" adjustment.
Enjoy!

The "jagged" edges are caused by the different thermal layers in the atmosphere.
They show in a photo because the camera freezes the motion. Our eyes tend to blend the results, making it appear smooth.

And beautiful shot too. I'd leave it as is myself.
Ahhh ... so that's why ! I thought something was wrong here and then I saw some other pics and this is not uncommon.
Thnaks for the explanation and the kind comment.

... it does look quite "invasive", doesn't it?

Thank you for the reply.

Fantastic shot!

For me, the farm (barns) make the shot giving an awesome perspective - plus I like photos of farms and barns anyway.

Your efforts were well rewarded - congratulations on an awesome shot!

Thanks a bunch, Stan!

Farms are so "usual", for us who have the chance to have them close by, that we don't often see them as good subjects for photography.
Which gives me an idea for a personal project!

Cheers!
