Life in the Wetlands
Lens: DA* 60-250 Camera: K5 Photo Location: Sherwood Park, Alberta

There is a wetlands about a 5 minute walk from my place. Here are some of the species that I managed to captured the other evening. Let's see if I butcher the names

Click on image (twice) for larger view

There are no rats in Alberta (other than the ones in the government ) but this guy is aptly named as he does indeed look like a rat the Muskrat

Teal Ducks - they are the second most popular duck next to the mallard - a little smaller in size and some different colors. Usually the last to arrive and the first to leave.

I have already shown a few shots of the Pelicans but really can there ever be enough Pelican shots ? (damn your Charlie that song !!!! )

The most common resident the Canadian Goose here until the weather turns (we could learn something from these guys)

And the next generation

Finally a Grackle caught in a tree

There are other species as well , coots, cormorants, grebe's , red winged black birds, gulls , woodpeckers, and I am sure more I have just not seen or captured yet.

I don't think I have ever seen that much wildlife in one place, love the goose/reflection shot. Great thread, a pleasure to view the variety.

The seventh one is a standout Dave. Picture perfect right down to the reflection in the water. Thanks for the trip to the wetlands. Lovely series.
