Grand Canyon
Lens: 70mm ltd Camera: K-5 Photo Location: Arizona
Posted By: Bob Harris, 05-23-2012, 06:33 AM

We pulled into the Grand Canyon and had one of those very bright days which actually helps bring out the colors when photographing this massive wonder of the world. This is one of the hardest places to photograph, for me anyway, due to changing light, clouds, high winds and the overall size of this massive hole which is 17 miles from wall to wall at one point and over a mile deep. I will post more photos of this "must see" National Park when I get them uploaded. Thanks for looking. Bob

Every time I see a picture or actually go to the Grand Canyon I think of the movie Vacation with Chevy Chase - putting his arm around his wife ,enjoying the view for 8 seconds and then saying we gotta go - it's a wonder for sure and you have captured it beautifully.

Can't wait to see more from there Bob. You are so right about the lighting conditions there but you never know from one minute to the next what will happen. Keep them coming please.

Bob,
I think you should just stand in one place and test all your lenses shooting this place. Given the variations in lighting etc. that you mention, it could make for a very interesting perspective both of the scenery and of photographic techniques.

Spectacular! If in the sunset, may be more western movie feeling?

Wow.. amazing Bob! Considering as you say that this amazing place is tricky to photograph, you've done an astounding job with this shot. The colors, contrast, composition, everything is just splendid my friend!

Man, that is just too funny, I had forgotten about that. That was a great series of movies, thanks Bob

Tell Teri this is a nice one. I was lucky enough to be able to take a 2 week rafting trip down the Colorado through the canyon. It was the trip of a lifetime and gives you a completely different perspective. Alas, I didn't have a camera at the time but others in the group shared theirs with me. It wasn't until a couple of years ago that my husband and I went back and were able to see the canyon from the top. We also took the mule ride but learned a valuable lesson, mules hurt in all the wrong places.
