60. They told me the tomb would not open for about 45 minutes, so I left.

I'll be back.

64. There is a hallway containing decorated "alcoves" in different style.

65. Flagler Alcove is part of a drawing room from 1868, later remodeled around 1902 with an Italian slant.

66. The Pierrepont Alcove has a Renaissance tinge. Sofa and chairs won first place at the 1876 Centennial Expo in Philadelphia. The windows and ceiling are from 1856, designed by the architect of Trinity church and the North Gate at Green-Wood cemetery.

67. The Whitney Alcove has the American Classical style from about 1820-30 that has some Grecian influence.

68. The Benkard Alcove from the 20th century has 18th century wood paneling, and period English Indian Red tile around the fireplace. The furniture has a visually and physically lighter form than earlier styles.

69. The Cherry Street Alcove feature Chippendale furniture in the American Rococo style of the 1750-70's.

70. The Dutch Alcove features a style brought over from Holland in the 1680-1710 era, with tile from Delft and a double "Dutch" door.

Other displays.

71. School politics.

72. Religion.

73. Jim Crow must go. "Jim Crow laws" existed in the former Confederate South up to 1965, for segregating schools, drinking fountains, etc.

The cafe had a wonderful big fruit-granola parfait that saved my life.

74. Technically I was waiting for the Hop-on/Hop-Off bus, or even a regular bus...but I ended up walking.

75. And here we are at the Guggenheim museum and gentlemen's club.

76. I lingered outside for some people shots.

77. And dog shots.

78. Fork art.

Guggenheim...

79.

80. Photography is restricted to the first floor, and you had to check your bag in the coat room.

81.

82.

I have to say I was disappointed with the Gugg. The entire 5-level spiral was taken up with an exhibit of crumpled car sheetmetal. Bletch. There was small area of old French (I think) paintings which were nice, but that was about it. I don't remember anything else.

83. Approaching the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

84. A mini fountain.

85. A small part of the Roman exhibit.

86. Where does an 8-ton (I'm guessing) column stand? Anywhere it wants to.
